AceShowbiz - After a long hiatus from singing due to a vocal injury, Gia Margaret is back with a new album titled Singing, set to be released on April 24 via Jagjaguwar. Fans can now enjoy the lead single “Everyone Around Me Dancing,” which is available for streaming today.
The upcoming album was recorded across various locations, including London, Eau Claire, and Chicago. Notable collaborators on the project include renowned artists such as Kurt Vile, David Bazan, Sean Carey from Bon Iver, Amy Millan of Stars, Deb Talan from The Weepies, and Guy Sigsworth of Frou Frou. Margaret reflects on her journey back to music, stating, “There was a time when I really didn’t know if I would sing again. So once I healed, there was a lot of internal pressure to come back strong. I didn’t know who I was anymore.”
She describes the single as a poignant exploration of isolation and the solace that can be found within it. “It is for taking a pause, for being in observation of a very scary and loud world and it is for finding stillness in our own inner worlds too,” she adds.
During her recovery period, Gia Margaret released two ambient-focused albums, Mia Gargaret in 2020 and Romantic Piano in 2023, following her 2018 project There’s Always Glimmer. Now, she is ready to embark on a North American and European tour starting in May.
