The 'Django Unchained' director has temporarily shelved his upcoming big-screen project as he gets candid about his issues with the industry which is evolving from theaters to streaming.

AceShowbiz - Fans eagerly waiting for Quentin Tarantino's much-anticipated final film might have to muster a bit more patience. The acclaimed filmmaker has confirmed that he is not in a rush to jump back into production. Instead, he is currently more focused on his roles as a writer and father.

During an interview at the Sundance Film Festival, which was reported by Variety, Tarantino shared, "I'm in no hurry to actually jump into production. I've been doing that for 30 years. Next month my son turns five, and I have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. When I'm in America, I'm writing. When I'm in Israel? I'm an abba, which means father."

He further elaborated, "The idea of jumping on a voyage when they're too young to understand it is not enticing to me. I kind of want to not do whatever movie I end up doing until my son is at least six. That way he'll know what's going on, he'll be there, and it will be a memory for the rest of his life."

The shift in focus does not mean Tarantino has been idle. Instead of launching straight into his next and purportedly final movie, he has pivoted towards theater. He disclosed that he's been working on a play, which could possibly become his swan song in the movie industry. "If it's a fiasco I probably won't turn it into a movie. But if it's a smash hit? It might be my last movie," he noted.

Discussing his reasons for this creative detour, Tarantino launched into a critique of the current state of the film industry. "That's a big f***ing deal pulling [a play] off, and I don't know if I can. So here we go," he said.

"That's a challenge, a genuine challenge, but making movies? Well, what the f*** is a movie now? What - something that plays in theaters for a token release for four f***ing weeks? All right, and by the second week you can watch it on television. I didn't get into all this for diminishing returns."

Tarantino's last major film, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", came out in 2019, and in the years that followed, rumors emerged about his tenth film, tentatively titled "The Movie Critic". However, as of April, it was reported that Tarantino had abandoned this project, throwing fans into further suspense about his final directorial endeavor.

While the anticipation builds, Tarantino remains committed to his new priorities. His son's sixth birthday is still a year or two away, indicating that fans might need to wait for a bit longer for his grand finale. Yet, as Tarantino has shown repeatedly, the wait might very well be worth it.
