AceShowbiz - On Wednesday evening, the Grammy Museum's Clive Davis Theater in downtown Los Angeles erupted into a vibrant atmosphere as Grammy-nominated artist Doechii took the stage for an unforgettable evening of music and conversation.
Doechii's electric performance captivated the sold-out crowd, igniting the venue with an 11-song set that included fan favorites such as "Nissan Altima" and the moving "Black Girl Memoir." In between tracks, Doechii shared her journey and inspirations, acknowledging her family and team while expressing gratitude for her successful year.
Highlighting her recent accomplishments, Doechii shared her four Grammy nominations: Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance ("Nissan Altima"), Best Remixed Recording (Kaytranada's remix of "Ego"), and Best Rap Album (Alligator Bites Never Heal), making her the first female rapper to appear in the latter category since Cardi B in 2020.
After her performance, Doechii engaged in an illuminating conversation with legendary rapper Killer Mike, who praised her as "an amazing representation of Florida that has given us talent in the artistic world." Doechii shared her creative process, resilience, and passion for representing female artists in hip-hop.
"I refuse to be anything but happy," she asserted. "I chose to be myself no matter what it took, and that confidence I bring with me is the same confidence that I poured into this project."
Doechii spoke about the importance of choosing her art over distractions and investing in her craft. "As a creative, you have to choose yourself over and over," she advised. "Don't allow yourself excuses; you must continue to work on yourself."
The evening ended with a heartfelt message from Doechii, who expressed her desire to inspire the next generation of icons. "I feel like they're out there watching my interviews, studying me, and listening to my music," she said. "I have to be free. I have to show up, because I just feel it. She's out there watching me."
