The Wanted singer Max George expresses his gratitude despite having to spend Christmas in the hospital and prepare for heart surgery after doctors found issues with his heart.

AceShowbiz - Max George, 36, announced on Instagram on Thursday, December 12, that he had been hospitalized after feeling unwell. Following tests, doctors have discovered issues with his heart.
"Unfortunately after some tests they've found that I have some issues with my heart," George wrote. "I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet."
The singer, who previously battled alcoholism, expressed gratitude for his support system, including his partner Maisie Smith. He also acknowledged that the news came as a shock but remains determined to face the challenge.
George has been open about his past struggles with substance abuse, stating that alcohol helped him cope with anxiety during his "lowest ever point." However, he has since embraced sobriety.
"I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was," he wrote. "Apologies if I bore you with updates in the coming weeks. I've probably got a month in a bed and there’s not THAT much to do!"
George's fans and fellow The Wanted bandmate Siva Kaneswaran have sent him well wishes, offering support and encouragement. George has not disclosed the specific heart condition he is suffering from. He is expected to spend a month in the hospital for further tests and surgery.
George and "EastEnders" star Maisie Smith have been in a relationship since 2022 The Wanted bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away from brain cancer in 2022, was a close friend of George.
