'Mufasa' Director Reveals Jay-Z and Beyonce Didn't Secure Role for Daughter Blue Ivy

Barry Jenkins, the director of 'Mufasa: The Lion King', reveals that Blue Ivy Carter secured her role in the film based on her own talent and not her famous parents' influence.

AceShowbiz - Despite the obvious assumption, director Barry Jenkins insists that Blue Ivy Carter's involvement in his film "Mufasa: The Lion King" was entirely based on her remarkable talent, not her parentage. "Her parents weren't involved in her booking this film," Jenkins clarified, referring to famous couple Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z.

Jenkins' admiration for Blue Ivy's voice arose from her narration of Matthew A. Cherry's audiobook "Hair Love" in 2020. "You know, she had read this book, this audiobook Hair Love with my friend Matthew Cherry. And I just really loved her voice," Jenkins explained. "I could just tell that she was going to bring this really wonderful innocence, but also the knowingness of a highly evolved child."

Jenkins praised Blue Ivy's maturity, professionalism, and ability to accurately portray the character of Kiara. "It was great working with her," Jenkins said. "She came extremely prepared."

Blue Ivy's parents, Beyonce and Jay-Z, were present at the film's premiere on Monday, December 9 and could not contain their pride for their daughter's accomplishment.

Jenkins' decision to cast Blue Ivy on her own merit underscores his commitment to artistic integrity and his belief that talent should be recognized regardless of background or connections.
