Alisyn Camerota, a veteran news anchor, is leaving CNN after more than a decade with the network as she announced her shocking departure on Sunday, December 8.

Camerota made the announcement at the beginning of her final show, praising CNN for providing her with "incredible opportunities" and "the kind of peak career experiences that I had dreamed of since I was a teenager."

"The journalists at CNN are the very best in the entire news business, and it's been an honor to have been their colleague," Camerota said. "It's also an honor to have been in your homes this past decade through some of the biggest stories of our lifetimes."

Camerota did not provide a specific reason for her departure but hinted at future plans, encouraging viewers to follow her on Instagram for updates. "I look forward to doing much more of that with you," she said. "Please follow me on Instagram @AlisynCamerota for updates on where to find me in the very near future."

Wolf Blitzer, a fellow CNN anchor, praised Camerota for her journalism and friendship, saying, "We will miss you. You're not only a good friend, but a colleague and an outstanding journalist."

Camerota has worked at CNN since 2014, previously serving as co-anchor of "New Day" from 2015 to 2021. She has also hosted "CNN Newsroom" and "CNN Tonight."

Prior to joining CNN, Camerota spent 16 years at Fox News, where she worked on several programs, including "Fox & Friends." She has also authored a novel, "Amanda Wakes Up," and a memoir, "Combat Love."
