AceShowbiz - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has unveiled the impressive secrets behind his physique in "Moana 2", the upcoming live-action remake of Disney's "Moana".
Speaking exclusively to Extra, the 52-year-old actor revealed that his muscular appearance in on-set photos as the demigod Maui was achieved through a combination of muscle and a custom-made bodysuit.
"That's a suit that took a long time to put on," Johnson explained. "I'm so happy you said, 'You bulked up,' because when you say, 'You bulked up,' that means you couldn't tell."
Johnson, who previously voiced Maui in the 2016 animated Moana and reprised the role for Moana 2, described the transformation process as "a couple of hours every day."
"We shot outside, and when those pictures surfaced, I was like, 'S**t, we got caught,'" Johnson said. "But they got into boats and started shooting pictures. So, but I'm happy you liked it. I can't wait."
Johnson's appearance as Maui in the live-action remake has garnered much attention, with fans commenting on his impressive physique and commitment to the role.
The actor, who is known for his muscular frame and extensive fitness regimen, has always emphasized the importance of authenticity in his portrayals.
Johnson has previously shared his deep connection to the character of Maui, who was inspired by his grandfather. The actor expressed that stepping into the live-action role was a surreal experience.
"The moment I stepped on set ... I realized right away, 'Oh, wow, this is different,' " Johnson said. "It becomes real all of the sudden. It was almost like getting in my grandfather's skin and what that was like."
The live-action remake of "Moana" is set to hit theaters on July 10, 2026, promising an immersive and visually stunning cinematic experience.
