AceShowbiz - Season 2 of "Squid Game" promises even bigger and more gruesome games than ever before. The trailer showcases a new group of people being beckoned into the game as Seong Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-jae) and others fight to survive against brutal new challenges.
Gi-Hun, who won the game three years prior, returns to play once again with the mission of ending the deadly competition once and for all. However, the stakes are higher than ever, and the players face a host of deadly challenges, including a deadly Red Light, Green Light game and a terrifying X's and O's game.
The series creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has teased that Season 2 will be even more "gruesome" than the first season. This is evident in the trailer, which shows the players being brutally killed and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) taunting them.
Despite the horrific nature of the games, Gi-Hun is determined to put an end to Squid Game and save lives. "I'm trying to end this game," he declares in the trailer.
The trailer also reveals that the mystery surrounding the Front Man will be further explored in Season 2. A voiceover asks Gi-Hun, "You still don't see, do you? The game will not end unless the world changes."
Season 2 of "Squid Game" will premiere on Netflix on December 26, 2023. The season will be followed by a third and final season, which is expected to be released in 2025.
