Longoria expressed her concerns about the future of the country under Trump's leadership, stating, "If he keeps his promises, it's going to be a scary place." She added that she feels "privileged" to be able to escape to other countries and that she is worried about Americans who are less fortunate.
The actress, who has been an outspoken supporter of Trump's opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, explained that she had her "whole adult life" in Los Angeles but that the city had changed and that the COVID-19 pandemic had pushed her to the edge. She also expressed concern about homelessness and taxes in California.
Longoria splits her time between homes in Spain and Mexico, and she stated that she does not plan to return to the United States full-time. She reflected on Trump's 2016 election as well, admitting that she felt depressed and existential at the time.
Longoria emphasized that she believes the fight against Trump's policies continues and stressed the importance of remaining resilient. She added that while she is privileged to be able to escape, she is saddened by the thought of Americans who will be "stuck" in a dystopian country.
