AceShowbiz - Rihanna cannot vote in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, but she is not afraid to vocally express her political stance. The Grammy Award-winning artist has called out some apparent supporters of Donald Trump as she hinted at her endorsement of Kamala Harris.
On Monday, November 4, ahead of the Election Day, the Barbadian beauty took to her Instagram page to share a video of her joking about "sneaking into the polls" with her sons' passports because she is not a registered voter due to her citizenship. In the caption, she hinted at her support for Harris.
"When protecting p***ies and firing p***ies can happen all in one vote #votecauseicant #TanSuitSeason," she wrote. The hashtag "#TanSuitSeason" is a reference to the controversy surrounding former President Barack Obama's tan suit, which was criticized by some as being "unpresidential."
In the comments, someone insinuated that they didn't agree with Rihanna, writing, "I voted for closed borders, deportations, and staying out of foreign conflicts. abortions are probably nowhere near as important as y'all are making it seem." Catching wind of the comment, the R&B star warned, "you're f**ked! And so is the America you dream of. Hope you don't have to find out the hard way."
Another attempted to silence Rih, "Celebrities need to stop telling us what to do. They don't know what it's like. Just do your job and distract us once in a while for the hell hole this administration has done to us."
Responding to the comment, the mother of two accused the person of being selfish. "ohhh you sound goofy af! We know exactly what it was like having a sweet a** tax cut! Some of us just care more about the people that didn't benefit from that! #TanSuitSeason," she claimed.
Rihanna also clapped back at those who questioned why she wouldn't apply to become a U.S. citizen. "Ironically enough she can vote if she would had setup her paper for voting as migrant if she doesn't have a us citizenship. I guess someone been rejected by the system or acts like it for the majority," someone criticized her.
The Fenty Beauty founder debunked the allegation, saying, "I LOVE my Bajan passport! I came here to work and pay taxes! You're welcome." When another questioned, "How TF can you live here and been living here if you aren't a US citizen?" she savagely replied, "Taxes dummy."
Someone else responded to Rih's joke about voting fraud with a legal threat, saying, "Illegal voting is a crime. Maybe she should be arrested for trying." To this particular comment, the "Umbrella" hitmaker simply said, "shut up Karen."
Despite not being able to vote herself, Rihanna has consistently encouraged Americans to participate in the electoral process. In 2018, she urged her followers to vote in the midterm election, saying, "If you're tired of complaining about the state of the country and government, get up and do something about it!!! #VOTE ... simple!!! You have no excuse."
