The 'New Rules' hitmaker will not be joining the DC Universe to play Zatanna for the next decade despite previous reports, according to DC Studios co-chief James Gunn.

AceShowbiz - James Gunn has debunked rumors that pop star Dua Lipa has signed a multi-year contract to play Zatanna in the DC Universe (DCU). The rumors, which surfaced on social media, suggested that Lipa had inked a "ten-year deal." However, Gunn questioned this phrasing, noting that modern Hollywood contracts typically focus on the number of projects rather than the duration of employment.
Gunn, who has a history of debunking false reports related to his projects, quashed the speculation on social media. "Until this moment it was neither of those things but as of now it’s debunked as well," Gunn said on Threads. " '10 year contract?' Do they think this is the 1930's? I'm a Dua Lipa fan, but no."
Although Dua Lipa will not be appearing in the DCU, Gunn recently announced that Benjamin Byron Davis will be playing Rupert Thorne in the upcoming animated series "Creature Commandos", which premieres on December 5.
Zatanna, the backwards-speaking magician, has been attached to several aborted projects in recent years, including planned solo movies and projects by Guillermo del Toro and J.J. Abrams. However, with Gunn's recent debunking, the rumors of her involvement in the DCU have been officially quashed.
