AceShowbiz - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, the 54-year-old music mogul, has been removed from suicide watch, according to sources who spoke to PEOPLE. His family has visited him at the Metropolitan Detention Center while he's awaiting his court appearance in early October.
Diddy was placed on suicide watch for preventative measures. His lawyer Marc Agnifilo said that it was a common practice for "new, high-profile inmates." Suicide watch involves "supervisory precautions taken for suicidal inmates that require frequent observation," according to the U.S. Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections.
Diddy is charged for sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution following FBI raids at his homes in March and subsequent arrest on September 16. His troubles stemmed from "freak-off" parties he hosted at his infamous star-studded gatherings over the years.
He's also scrutinized for his alleged abuse of former girlfriend Cassie. Months after he settled the case with his ex, damaging footage that captured his assault emerged on the internet. Initially denying any wrongdoings, he issued a new statement to apologize for his action.
The disgraced music mogul is expected to testify at his upcoming trial and has no plan to accept plea deal for now. "He is focused and very strong," his attorney told PEOPLE. "He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial."
Diddy and disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried are being held in the same area of the Brooklyn detention facility, which houses 1,600 inmates. The facility has been criticized for being dangerous and understaffed.
Diddy initially proposed a $50 million bail package that included giving up the passports of his children, but his plea was denied by a judge.
Amidst the turmoil, Diddy has reportedly transferred his assets to his children while his "freak-off" tapes are being shopped around.
