AceShowbiz - Sabrina Carpenter brought an unearthly performance to the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. At the awards-giving event, which took place on Wednesday, September 11 at UBS Arena, the "Please Please Please" singer shocked the audience when she had a steamy interaction with an "alien."

At the ceremony, Sabrina hit the stage to sing a thrilling medley of her hits from her most recent album "Short n' Sweet" that included "Please Please Please", "Espresso" and "Taste". Opening her performance, she could be seen descending from the ceiling, seated on a diamond-shaped seat in a bedazzled white bodysuit as she belted out "Please Please Please".

A giant astronaut was ready to welcome her onstage before Sabrina transitioned to "Taste". For her performance, Sabrina also incorporated an alien, with whom she was seen making out. The steamy interaction was in reference to her steamy kiss with Jenna Ortega in the music video of the song.

The musician, who looked stunning in a silver sparkly dress, paid homage to Britney Spears as the Princess of Pop's classic "Oops!…I Did It Again" played in the background. She additionally sampled the lyrics of "Oops!…I Did It Again" as she sang, "I thought the old lady dropped it into the ocean in the end/ Well baby, I went down and got it for ya/ Aww, you shouldn't have."

That night, the former "Girl Meets World" star earned her first VMA after winning Song of the Year for "Espresso". In her speech, she said, "I've literally never won one of these. This is really special." She added, "The first people I want to thank are the fans. If you clap after everything I say they're gonna, they're gonna call me off the stage, so one second."

"But I just want to say you guys are the reason that I get to do what I love, but also the reason that we get to have so much fun and share music with each other," she continued. "And I just feel so grateful to have the best, truly the best, fans in the world. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love you."

Concluding her speech, she thanked her managers, her family, her "cats and dogs that are at home watching," as well as the people who made "Espresso" with her. "I just, I love you guys so much. I love making music with you, and I can't wait to share more with the world," she said.

Sabrina was also nominated for Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Art Direction and Song of the Summer.
