AceShowbiz - Netflix, in collaboration with "Stranger Things" creators Matt and Ross Duffer, has assembled an all-star cast for their new supernatural mystery series, "The Boroughs". This eight-episode drama, developed by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, who also serve as showrunners, promises to blend suspense, humor, and heartfelt moments.
"The Boroughs" is set to feature renowned actors Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O'Hare, Clarke Peters and Bill Pullman. Scheduled to lead the ensemble cast, Molina will play Sam, Davis will portray Renee, Woodard will appear as Judy, O'Hare is set to play Wally, Peters will take on the role of Art, and Pullman will embody Jack. These characters form an unlikely group of heroes tasked with stopping an otherworldly threat from stealing time-a commodity they lack in abundance.
Adding further allure, Ben Taylor, known for his work on "Sex Education", will direct several episodes, including the premiere, and serve as an executive producer. Taylor joins the series’ creators Addiss and Matthews, alongside the Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt of Upside Down Pictures, ensuring a blend of creative vision and rich storytelling.
The concept of "The Boroughs" has parallels with the popular series "Stranger Things" but shifts the narrative focus to a more mature cast set within the serene confines of a retirement community. The Duffer Brothers stated, "While the heroes in "The Boroughs" have a few more years on them than the kids from "Stranger Things", they are a similarly lovable bunch of misfits, and we can't wait for you to join them on an adventure that is at turns scary, funny, and deeply touching."
This new series is part of the expanding portfolio resulting from Upside Down Pictures’ overall deal with Netflix. Their slate includes the eagerly anticipated final season of "Stranger Things", a stage play titled "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" set for a Broadway debut, and another Netflix series, "Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen", created by Haley Z. Boston.
Slated to bring a mix of genres and a star-studded cast to the screen, "The Boroughs" looks poised to captivate audiences young and old alike. With its intriguing premise and the successful creative team behind it, anticipation for the series continues to build.
