AceShowbiz - Neil Young has shed light on the cancellation of Crazy Horse's "Love Earth" tour, emphasizing that health concerns were the primary reason. During a recent Zoom call with Neil Young Archives subscribers, the legendary musician explained his decision-making process.
"I was doing great, but I woke up one morning and realized I couldn't continue," Young said. "My body was telling me to stop."
The cancellation, announced in late June, occurred after several band members, including Young, fell ill after their Detroit performance. The tour, their first in a decade, came to an abrupt end.
Young acknowledged the legal and logistical challenges involved in canceling the tour but maintained that the art of music and the well-being of the band were paramount. "What matters to me is the music," he stressed. "If that's not there, my going isn't happening."
Despite the setback, Young remains optimistic. "I'm starting to feel like I could do it again," he said, expressing his hope for Crazy Horse's future.
While Crazy Horse's return is uncertain, Young has hinted at a more intimate tour with a smaller lineup, focusing on his previous venues.
Meanwhile, fans can anticipate Young's performance at Farm Aid on September 21. Additionally, Young has hinted at a potential U.S. theater tour with guitarist Micah Nelson and the rhythm section of the Promise of the Real.
Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina and bassist Billy Talbot, both in their eighties, remain committed to the band. Young expressed optimism about their future, noting that they "did a good service to the name Crazy Horse" on the tour.
While Young apologizes to those who purchased tickets, he emphasized that he listened to his body and made the decision that was best for him and the band.
