AceShowbiz - Simone Biles' estranged sister has come to their mom Shanon Biles' defense. After Shanon got backlash for saying she wanted to reunite with the Olympic champion, Micah took to social media to defend her.
"I want to come to this internet and defend my mom," Micah said in a TikTok video. "Because she might not be everything we expected her to be, but at the end of the day, she's still a work in progress, and we give her that."
"Simone chose not to have a relationship with my mom, and that's fine, that was her choice," Micah went on. She added that she herself did not develop a true relationship with their mother Shanon until the age of 17 due to her addiction.
"I'm not going to let y'all get on this internet and bash my mom, or say anything bad, or anything of that sort because she’s not a bad person," Micah stressed. "She's done nothing to Simone. Life happened to her."
Shanon had to give her children up for adoption due to her struggle with drug addiction. Simone and her younger sister, Adria, were adopted by their maternal grandfather, Ronald Biles, and his wife, Nellie, while the older siblings, Tevin and Ashley, were taken in by Ronald's sister.
Shanon deeply regrets the decisions she made in the past and hopes for a chance to make amends. Despite the distance and the pain caused by her addiction, she continues to love and admire Simone. "I would like to make amends with Simone personally," she said. "I'm waiting for her and [Adria] to reach out. I just want to ask her to forgive me."
Due to her recovery journey, Shanon understands the importance of patience and respects Simone's space. She has Simone's phone number but has chosen not to call, believing that the initiative should come from her daughter. As a mother, Shanon is deeply saddened that she has missed out on major events in Simone's life, such as her wedding and recent Olympic victories. She is proud of Simone's accomplishments but also acknowledges the bittersweet reality of being an observer.
