AceShowbiz - Following his surprise return in "The Mandalorian" season 2, Boba Fett's adventures in his own spin-off series, "The Book of Boba Fett", were met with widespread disappointment. The story, which revealed Fett's survival after "Return of the Jedi", was deemed uninteresting, and the character's rise to "Daimyo" of Tatooine was seen as uncompelling.
According to actor Temuera Morrison, who portrays Fett, the character will not appear in the upcoming "The Mandalorian and Grogu" movie. Morrison also confirmed that he has not received any updates on a potential second season of "The Book of Boba Fett".
"I'm still waiting for a phone call to be quite honest," Morrison said. "I think we're just put on the shelf for a little bit. Maybe we come off the shelf later."
The poor reception to The Book of Boba Fett is believed to have contributed to Fett's current absence from the franchise. Fans have expressed more interest in the fate of Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth, a character introduced in "The Mandalorian".
Despite his disappointment with "The Book of Boba Fett", Morrison has expressed a desire to return as Fett in the future. He has suggested that Fett could visit Din Djarin in "The Mandalorian" and engage in some action-packed scenes.
"The Mandalorian and Grogu" is scheduled for release in theaters on May 22, 2026.
