AceShowbiz - Bill Maher's "Real Time with Bill Maher" dove into the presidential debate. The host suggested that Joe Biden's performance had weakened his position and that Trump's unsubstantiated claims would have gone unchallenged had Biden been absent.
The show also featured a panel discussion with former presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard and guest Chris Matthews. Matthews expressed the belief that the decision to continue campaigning rested with Biden, while Gabbard argued that Biden's policies would remain detrimental even if he were to withdraw. Maher expressed his disappointment with the lack of viable candidates.
In a separate segment, Maher interviewed Ray Kurzweil, who predicted that humans would achieve immortality by merging with AI within the next 20 years. Kurzweil acknowledged the potential dangers but emphasized that AI could enhance human capabilities.
Back in March, Maher addressed the U.S. House passing a bill to ban TikTok due to national security concerns. He questioned the prioritization of this bill amidst other issues, noting the opposition from both sides of the political spectrum. Congressman Ro Khanna defended the First Amendment and advocated for a comprehensive data privacy law instead. Republican Representative Nancy Mace also raised Fifth Amendment concerns.
Maher expressed greater concern about AI, citing its potential for extinction-level threats. He criticized the tech industry for releasing AI technology without addressing its flaws. The issue of AI also played a role in recent writers and actors strikes and has raised concerns in other industries, including Hollywood, about job displacement.
