The Emmy-winning soap opera star reveals her initial interest but ultimate decision not to pursue a leading role in the dating reality series 'The Golden Bachelorette'.

AceShowbiz - Susan Lucci, the celebrated star of "All My Children", has recently discovered a passion for the "The Bachelor" franchise, particularly the spin-off series "The Golden Bachelor". While Lucci initially received outreach from the show's producers, she ultimately decided against participating.

"It wasn't for me," Lucci explained, "but I do love watching." The actress credited her assistant for sparking her interest in the franchise, which she initially found engaging and addictive. However, despite her enthusiasm for the show, Lucci declined the offer to lead the first season of "The Golden Bachelorette".

Sources close to the production confirm that Lucci was not offered the role. Instead, Joan Vassos, a former contestant from "The Golden Bachelor", has been announced as the first Golden Bachelorette. Vassos, who had a strong connection with her season's lead, Gerry Turner, left the show early to support her daughter.

Lucci's decision to not pursue the role stems from her desire to remain a fan and supporter of the franchise. She cited her age and her contentment with watching the show as reasons for her choice. Despite not being the next "The Golden Bachelorette", Lucci remains a dedicated viewer and looks forward to watching the upcoming season.
