The actor, who most recently starred in the hit rom-com 'Anyone but You' alongside Sydney Sweeney, also makes it clear that he is just leaving Hollywood the place, not the industry.

AceShowbiz - Glen Powell is leaving California and he's "more than happy" to have made the decision. In a new interview, the "Top Gun: Maverick" star explained why he's moving back to his home state of Texas amid his skyrocketing fame.

When speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the 35-year-old hunk said the real benefit of "getting to this point in Hollywood is that I can now leave Hollywood." He added, "It's like I've earned the ability to go back to my family."

Glen went on to disclose that after selling his Hollywood Hills pad, he bought a "home" just 30 minutes away from his mom, Cyndy Powell, and dad, Glen Powell Sr. The actor also plans on finishing his degree at the University of Texas.

"I think it's really important to my mom and it's more of an emotional thing for me," he said of the reason why he's going back to school. "Plus, I'm so close, I can taste it."

Glen also credited fellow actor Matthew McConaughey for advising about heading back home. "He's like, 'Hollywood is the Matrix, man. You plug in and it's all fake world,' " he recalled. "He's like, 'Then I go to Austin, and I unplug. It's all real. Those are my friends, that's my family, my actions matter there.' "

"And he's right. If you're here, you live in the Matrix all the time, there's no separation of those worlds," Glen, who most recently starred in the hit rom-com "Anyone but You" alongside Sydney Sweeney, further shared. "And for me, especially as my parents get older and my niece and nephew are growing up, I want a separation of those worlds."

During the interview, Glen made it clear that he is just leaving Hollywood the place, not the industry. "The thing that makes me feel in conflict with some parts of this moment is that I like choosing when I'm out in front," he said. "And I'm more than happy to be on a press tour. I love it. I love going on a Jimmy Fallon-you walk out, you sign autographs, you do the whole thing."
