AceShowbiz - During the season five premiere of "The Kardashians", Kourtney Kardashian shared her experience of undergoing an emergency fetal surgery at 31 weeks of pregnancy. She and Travis Barker were expecting their first child together when an ultrasound revealed a concern that prompted her to see specialists.

The specific issue was not disclosed, but Kourtney described it as a "super rare thing" that happened quickly and necessitated immediate surgery. She expressed gratitude for the timing of the surgery, which she believes saved her baby's life.

As Travis was on tour in Europe at the time, Kris Jenner accompanied Kourtney to the hospital. Travis flew home immediately, but his WiFi connection on the plane was broken, leaving him unable to receive updates from his wife and mother-in-law.

Kourtney described herself as "really calm" during the emergency but said she processed the situation later. The surgery was successful, and Kourtney spent the remaining two months of her pregnancy on bed rest due to a hole in her amniotic sac.

Despite the "trauma" of the experience, Kourtney and Travis remained hopeful about their baby boy. She said, "I just feel so grateful that how everything played out and for the doctors that really helped make the best decisions that really saved our baby."

Kourtney also noted that many people reached out to her after she shared her story on social media, expressing their gratitude for her willingness to openly discuss her experience. She clarified that her doctor assured her that she did nothing wrong and that the issue was not age-related.

Rocky, Kourtney and Travis' son, was born in November 2023.
