'Supernatural' Actor DJ Qualls Announces Engagement to Co-Star Ty Olsson

In a life-imitates-art moment, DJ Qualls, who played werewolf Garth, and Ty Olsson, who portrayed vampire Benny on Supernatural, are getting married after a decade-long journey from unlikely friends to life partners.

AceShowbiz - On the May 15 episode of his "Locked and Probably Loaded" podcast, DJ Qualls, 45, revealed the exciting news of his engagement to Ty Olsson. The pair's story is a testament to how friendships can evolve in the most unexpected and beautiful ways.

The journey began at a "Supernatural" fan convention, where Qualls and Olsson barely exchanged any words. Recounting their first encounter, Qualls said, "We maybe said three words together at the Supernatural convention, and then we went to London for four or five days afterward."

What truly marked the start of their strong bond was a spontaneous trip to Turkey. "I was going to Turkey with a friend, and he is such a pure, awesome guy," Qualls recalled. "He came up to us - we all went out as a group - and he was like, "Can I come on your trip with you?' "

Initially, Qualls found Olsson's bold approach quite surprising. "That is so ballsy! I could never invite myself on somebody's trip," he admitted, appreciating the genuine and fearless nature of Olsson's gesture.

From that point forward, their friendship only grew stronger. "Ty and I became inseparable at the very beginning, just immediately," Qualls shared on his podcast. Over the last ten years, what started as a spur-of-the-moment adventure blossomed into a profound and unwavering relationship. "And over the last ten years our relationship evolved to what it is today, and now we're getting married."

Qualls also highlighted the unconditional love and support Olsson has given him. "It's just so crazy that this person who was just my friend, now I think about all the time and he sends the best messages, and he supports me and loves me unconditionally in the right way," he reflected. For Qualls, unconditional love means mutual respect and prioritizing each other's best interests - qualities that define their partnership.

Their announcement was met with a wave of support from "Supernatural" fans on social media. "Thank you everyone for all the love and support and kindness today," Olsson posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), expressing gratitude for the overwhelming love they've received.

This heartwarming story of finding love in unexpected places and treasuring companionship serves as an inspiring reminder of how true connections can form and flourish, even in the most unlikely circumstances.
