The Zendaya-starring teen drama, which sophomore season wrapped up its story in February 2022, is currently in limbo as season 3 has yet to start its production.

AceShowbiz - A new report isn't gonna make "Euphoria" fans thrilled. While the hit HBO series is currently in limbo amid season 3 delay, multiple sources claim that the Zendaya Coleman-starring drama won't likely go beyond its third season.

According to Page Six, the teen drama is likely to bid farewell with fans in season 3. After ending season 2 in February 2022, the production of season 3 has yet to start, sparking complaints from fans and even cast members.

Star Nika King, who played Zendaya's on-screen mom Leslie Bennett, previously joked about not being able to pay rent because of the delay. "Season 3 is coming out… I don't know. Don't ask me. I don't know. It's one of those things. People are like, 'We need season 3.' I'm like, 'I need season 3, too!' I haven't paid my rent in six months," she said.

Storm Reid, on the other hand, admitted that she wasn't really surprised by the delay. "We would all hope to be able to go back tomorrow, but there are logistics that have to be figured out. So even though I'm a little disappointed, I'm not surprised," she shared. "I do know if we do go back that I am sure we will continue to be authentic and represent the real world."

Recently, Variety claimed that there's still no clear plan when the production will start. "What the network isn't saying is that no one at HBO is at all sure a third season of 'Euphoria' will ever come to fruition," it stated on March 28.

The news outlet further shared that the network turned down some pitched ideas for the new season amid the many rewrites. According to the report, Zendaya once pitched the idea of her character Rue Bennett becoming a pregnancy surrogate, only to get rejected. It was also said that HBO turned down series creator Sam Levinson's idea of making Zendaya's character become a private detective.

Despite the concerning reports, HBO and Sam assured fans that season 3 will come with a bang. "HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season," an HBO spokesperson said in a recent statement. "In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities."
