Details of Mavis Leno's health struggle are revealed in court documents recently filed by her TV host husband in a bid to place her under conservatorship.

AceShowbiz - Jay Leno, former late-night talk show host, has filed for conservatorship over his wife, Mavis, 77, due to her diagnosis of dementia. The 73-year-old stated in court documents that Mavis has been progressively losing capacity and orientation for several years.
Her dementia was described as "advanced," and she "sometimes does not know her husband, Jay, nor her date of birth."
According to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, Leno is seeking a conservatorship to establish a living trust for Mavis, ensuring she has assets to cover her potential future care in the event of his passing.
Sources close to the couple reveal that Jay has been devoted to Mavis throughout her health battles. He takes care of her and often takes her out of the house, which seems to improve her mood.
On Sunday, Leno provided an update on his wife's condition, stating that she is "fine" and that the conservatorship filing was intended to secure their finances. "I just set up a will, in case something happens," he said.
Leno filed for conservatorship in November, but the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease has not been publicly disclosed until now. Conservatorship allows a court to appoint a person to manage the personal and financial affairs of an incapacitated individual.
"The conservatorship estate will not be funded with any assets and is being established for the sole purpose of filing a petition for substituted judgment to ensure Mavis's estate plan is established and that Mavis's future care is provided for under the terms of a living trust," state the court documents.
Leno has expressed his love and admiration for Mavis, emphasizing that she has always been his rock and that he is committed to her well-being. Despite the challenges of her condition, sources say that their relationship remains strong, with Mavis's good days outweighing the bad.
