AceShowbiz - 20th Century Studios is giving a taste of evilness by debuting the first look at "The First Omen". After being forced to withhold its projects amid the Hollywood strikes, the studio is ready to unleash the prequel to "The Omen", but first it teases the movie with the spooky image.

Making its way out via Instagram, the photo features a woman dressing black who is standing in front of an altar with a picture of a biblical figure hung on the wall above it. Giving a mysterious vibe, the woman creepily stares with her head slightly tilted down.

Along with the image, 20th Century Studios announced that the film will be released in theaters across the nation on April 5, 2024. Disney had been keeping the date on hold, before designating it to the supernatural horror film.

In the upcoming film, "when a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate."

Nell Tiger Free, Tawfeek Barhom, Sonia Braga, Ralph Ineson and Bill Nighy star in the psychological thriller. Arkasha Stevenson serves behind the lens and penned the script along with Tim Smith and Keith Thomas. It's written based on characters created by David Seltzer with a story by Ben Jacoby.

The movie marks Stevenson's feature directorial debut, with David S. Goyer, Keith Levine and Gracie Wheelan serving as producers under the Phantom Four label. Smith also serves as an executive producer.

The original movie, "The Omen", starred Gregory Peck as an ambassador who believes his 5-year-old son may in fact be the living embodiment of the Antichrist. The film spawned three sequels, including 1978's "Damien: Omen II" and 1981's "The Final Conflict" as well as the 2006 reboot, "The Omen". The horror franchise also included a TV series, "Damien", which lasted just one season on A&E.
