AceShowbiz - Ted Nugent has come to Jason Aldean's defense. After the "Try That in a Small Town" singer was met with backlash for his new song and its accompanying music video, the "Hey Baby" rocker publicly voiced his support by deeming the critics "idiots."

The 74-year-old rock legend expressed his thoughts on the 46-year-old country singer's song and music video during an interview on Saturday, July 22. Speaking to Jimmy Failla from Fox News, the rocker bluntly spoke, "I know there's a bunch of idiots out there, but you need to learn to get a kick out of the idiots."

Ted went on to explain, "The idiots hate this Jason Aldean song because they hate when we push back against violence. They always get it 180 degrees wrong." He further shared, "This song is against violence. The song is about self-defense. The song is about protecting your loved ones in your neighborhood."

"If you find fault with a song that celebrates protecting your loved ones, your neighborhood, you might be going down to Target to the Satan display and get down on your knees," the rock star continued. "These are just weird people. We dismiss them because they've gotten out of hand because they've got no soul. I laugh in their faces."

Jason himself has made a public statement to explain the real intention behind his controversial song. "In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous," he clarified in an Instagram Story published on July 18.

"There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it - and there is not a single video clip that isn't real news footage. And while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music - this one goes too far," he further elaborated. " 'Try That In A Small Town', for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief."

Jason added, "Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences. My political views have never been something I've hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this country don't agree on how we get back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least one day without a headline that keeps us up at night. But the desire for it to - that's what this song is about."
