AceShowbiz - Life is good for Don Lemon despite his abrupt firing from CNN. Just days after news broke out about his termination, the former "Don Lemon Tonight" host made an appearance at the TIME 100 Gala in New York City and opened up about his positive outlook for his future.

Hitting the red carpet with his fiance Tim Malone on Wednesday, April 26, the 57-year-old journalist spoke to ET about his post-firing state of mind. "I'm doing well, and I'm here to celebrate... I'm happy to be here," he assured. "I am happy to be moving in a new direction."

Though so, the former co-anchor of "CNN This Morning" could not hide that he would miss his working partners. "I'm going to miss all the talented people and journalists at CNN, who are my friends and who I love, and who I've been speaking to," he said. Still, he stressed, "I'm fine, life is good, I've got my beautiful fiance here and we're all good."

Don, who had been working as correspondent and anchor on the network for 17 years, additionally revealed his plans for the future. Claiming he was looking forward to "summer on the beach and on the boat, chilling with my family," he continued, "I'm just chilling out and we'll see what happens next. One day at a time and one foot after the other."

Elsewhere in the interview, Don was asked if he had any regrets on his parting ways with the network. He quickly replied, "No, this is life. You get one life, and I have no regrets. I live my life virtually carefree and regret-free. You can't change the past, you can only move into the future and live in the present. And that's what I'm doing."

News of Don being abruptly fired by CNN broke out on Monday, April 24. About the termination, he shared what went through his mind by tweeting, "I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned."

"After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly," he continued lamenting. "At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network."
