AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle is allegedly eager for her and Prince Harry's kids to have a relationship with their grandfather, King Charles. While there's an alleged rift between the couple and the British royal family, it's said that the Duchess of Sussex doesn't want it to affect her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
"Meghan doesn't want any more rifts," a source familiar with the Sussexes told Page Six. "She wants her children to know their grandfather, Charles, particularly when they are not going to know their other grandfather [Meghan's long-estranged father, Thomas Markle]."
Of the former "Suits" actress, the insider added, "She does hope they will meet and hopes her decision will be seen as an unselfish one, as it was best to keep the attention on His Majesty."
The source went on to say that Meghan decided to skip King Charles' coronation on May 6 because she doesn't want to stir up more drama. "She just really doesn't want a song and dance and everything being lived out in the public eye," the source said.
Instead of joining Harry at the historic event, Meghan will be celebrating Archie's 4th birthday in California as the big day also happens to fall on May 6. It's said that the celebration will be attended by Meghan's mom Doria Ragland, Archie's school chums and some mommy friends. Some familiar faces may also be at the party as the source noted that they "do have celebrities in their life."
Harry, meanwhile, was reported to plan to race home hours after attending his father's coronation at Westminster Abbey in London. He allegedly may take a flight back to California right after the ceremony, meaning he could arrive home in the early evening, thanks to the eight-hour time difference.
"Harry's going to make every effort to get back in time for Archie's birthday," said the source. "It's going to be an intimate party, it's not going to be like 'My Super Sweet 16' or Portia de Rossi's 50th!"
