The planned project reportedly will not follow the whip-wielding adventurer like 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles', but will serve as a prequel instead.

AceShowbiz - A television series based on "Indiana Jones" is currently being developed on Disney+. According to a new report, the planned project will not follow the whip-wielding adventurer like 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles', but will serve as a prequel instead.

Variety reports that the Mouse House and Lucasfilm have specifically been bringing up the possibility of a streaming show set in the world of the globe trotting archaeologist in general meetings with writers. It is also said that they haven't gotten a writer for the project just yet and no plot details are available as of now.

The Wrap, meanwhile, shares that the TV show will focus on young Abner Ravenwood, Marion Ravenwood's father. The series allegedly will see Abner mentoring a group of young archeologists. While he remains a much talked-about figure, he's never seen in "Indiana Jones" lore.

The new report arrives after Harrison Ford stated that he's done playing Indiana Jones after the fifth film, "Indiana Jones V", which is slated to be released in 2023. "This is it," Ford said during an appearance at Disney's D23. "I will not fall down for you again. But thank you so much."

"Thank you for making these films such an incredible experience for all of us," he said. "I'm very proud to say to say that this one is fantastic… 'Indiana Jones' movies are about fantasy and mystery, but they're also about heart. We have a really great story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your a**," he continued.

The planned project isn't the only TV series about the character. "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" aired for two seasons on ABC from 1992-1993, with four made-for-TV specials airing on The Family Channel (now Freeform) between 1994 and 1996. It was created by George Lucas and born out of the prologue for "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade".

The show focused primarily on the early years of Jones with Sean Patrick Flanery and Corey Carrier playing him at different times in his life. George Hall played an elderly Jones, with Ford making an appearance in one of the episodes.
