AceShowbiz - Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson have parted ways. It was unveiled that the "Love Is Blind" alum has filed for divorce from her now-estranged husband after 1 year of marriage.
The 29-year-old submitted the divorce paper on Monday, August 15 at Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois. Further details regarding the pair's divorce have yet to be revealed.
The news came as a surprise as the two attended Lollapalooza with friends earlier this month. Danielle even shared photos from the music festival on Instagram, writing in the caption, "Had the best time at Lolla this year! Survived all 4 days. Thank u @budlight for having us and for all the cherry limeade seltzers." As of Sunday, August 21, she still had her last name set to "Thompson" on Instagram.
Danielle and Nick tied the knot in June 2021 after meeting on season 2 of Netflix's "Love Is Blind". When speaking to PEOPLE earlier this year, the now-exes got candid about seeking couples counseling, which they've gone to since getting married.
"We've put frameworks in place for communication," Nick told the publication back in March. "We've had to force ourselves through some conversations [about] what we actually need in that moment and [have] worked on being able to articulate that."
"Sometimes that means walking away for a little bit or sometimes that means, 'Let's table it and drop it and forget about it,' " he went on explaining. "There are so many different things that we're applying to our communication [style] that has really given us a good step to move forward."
His then-wife chimed in, "A lot of couples, when they're dating, have the opportunity to naturally learn one another's language as you would if you're trying to learn a language outside of English." She further shared, "Learning that in such a short period of time is very difficult and takes a lot of patience, love and understanding from both sides."
