Gloria Estefan Subtly Shades Jennifer Lopez Over Her Controversial Super Bowl Complaints

In a new interview, the Cuban-American singer also confesses that she refused to perform alongside J.Lo and Shakira as she didn't want to be the third Latina on Super Bowl LIV stage.

AceShowbiz - Gloria Estefan has nothing to hold back. The "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" songstress threw a subtle shade at Jennifer Lopez after the latter confessed that she's unhappy to share stage with Shakira at the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

In the Tuesday, June 21 episode of "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen", the 64-year-old Cuban-American singer said, "Look, this is the bottom line. You have very little time, like 12 minutes or something, to get things on and off the set." She further elaborated, "So, could you do it with one person? Yes, but I think they wanted to throw a Miami and Latin extravaganza and they tried to pack it as much as possible."

The Grammy Award winner, who confirmed that she chose not to participate, then threw some shade, adding, "Okay, and imagine what J.Lo would have said if I was the third [performer]! I literally would come out, done 'Shake Your Body' [and 'Conga'] and out. It was their moment." She then joked, "Plus, I didn't want to go on a diet in December."

Gloria's response comes after J.Lo's "Halftime" documentary showed her reaction to Shakira being named the co-headliner for the sporting event. The "On the Floor" hitmaker explained in her upcoming Netflix documentary that she disapproved of the idea because she and the Colombian native would only have 12 minutes for the gig.

"We have six f**king minutes. We have 30 seconds of a song, and if we take a minute, that's it, we've got five left," J.Lo told her music director Kim Burse during a tense conversation. "But there's got to be certain songs that we sing, though. We have to have our singing moments. It's not going to be a dance f**king revue. We have to sing our message."

"This is the worst idea in the world to have two people do the Super Bowl," the 52-year-old superstar continued fuming. "It was the worst idea in the world."

J.Lo herself told Shakira earlier in the film, "If it was going to be a double headliner, they should have given us 20 minutes." The singer/actress further stressed, "That's what they should've f**king done."

J.Lo's manager, Benny Medina, also slammed the NFL for letting his client share the spotlight with another performer. "Typically, you have one headliner at a Super Bowl," he argued. "That headliner constructs a show and, should they choose to have other guests, that's their choice. It was an insult to say you needed two Latinas to do the job that one artist historically has done."

Meanwhile, Shakira spoke about making history at Super Bowl LIV. "The best birthday gift has been the support of all my fans and the most amazing and hardworking team an artist could wish for," she said in her Instagram post following the performance. "We Latinos climbed Kilimanjaro and made history tonight and we couldn't have done it without all of you!"
