AceShowbiz - Ariana DeBose is standing up for herself. The "West Side Story" star hit back at one troll who criticized her hosting debut on "Saturday Night Live" in the Saturday, January 15 episode.
During her monologue, Ariana made a mistake when she said, "2020 has already been an exciting year." Making fun of the faux, one person wrote in an Instagram comment underneath her Monday, January 17 post, "She know it's 2022 not 2020 right???"
The diss didn't go unnoticed by the Broadway star. She quickly hit back at the troll, replying, "You try hosting SNL, reading cue cards with slight dislexia and then get to me brah."
The hater, however, didn't back down despite the clapback. "Maybe get someone who isn't on level with Joe Biden at reading since that's a qualification to acting...reading lines," the person noted. To which, the Golden Globe winner responded, "Cool. You're a troll. Bye."
Despite the criticism, some others had positive reactions to Ariana's hosting debut on the popular comedy show. Writer Julissa Natzely Arce Raya defended the actress, writing, "I thought it was part of the joke! Because you know it's like 2020 all over again!' and adding, 'Forget the haters! You were amazing!!!!"
"SNL" vet Keenan Thompson also chimed in, "Destroyed it !!!!" Chris Redd added, "You're incredible and so damn fun to play with!"
In the post, Ariana was commemorating her time as a host on the sketch comedy show. "The smile on my face says it all. That was,no lie, one of the craziest weeks of life so far, but such a thrilling ride. There's nothing- I repeat- nothing like @nbcsnl," she began her lengthy caption.
"I have so much respect for this cast, crew & creative team producers et all. The amount of work & creativity that goes in to making this show happen is astounding. And they do this all the time. For 47 SEASONS!" she continued.
