The 'Bridge of Spies' actor has been tapped to play Maurice Flitcroft in the upcoming movie 'The Fantastic Flitcrofts' adapted from Scott Murray's book 'The Phantom of the Open'.

AceShowbiz - Oscar winner Mark Rylance has signed on to play real-life golf dreamer Maurice Flitcroft in a new movie.

The "Bridge of Spies" star will lead the cast of "The Fantastic Flitcrofts", portraying the man who shot the worst round in British Open Golf Championship qualifying history in 1976 after miraculously gaining access to the play-off.

Actor-turned-director Craig Roberts will oversee the project, adapted from the book "The Phantom of the Open" written by Scott Murray.
