While admitting that the criticisms addressed to her over her curves in 1997 film 'Batman and Robin' was 'hurtful,' the 'Clueless' alum always 'knew they were wrong.'

AceShowbiz - Alicia Silverstone did not let negative criticism pull her down. Having been heavily fat-shamed for her curvy body when he portrayed Batgirl in director Joel Schumacher's 1997 "Batman & Robin", the "Clueless" star has opened up in a new interview about how she never took her "Fatgirl" labeling to heart.

"They would make fun of my body when I was younger," the 43-year-old actress told The Guardian on how tabloid and paparazzi referred to her at the height of her career. "It was hurtful but I knew they were wrong. I wasn't confused. I knew that it was not right to make fun of someone's body shape, that doesn't seem like the right thing to be doing to a human."

Admitting that being a part of the superhero movie "definitely wasn't my favourite film-making experience," the "Blast From the Past" actress explained how she dealt with toxic environment. "There were working circumstances that were less than favourable in terms of how things went down," she shared. "And no, I didn't say 'f**k you' and come out like a warrior but I would just walk away and go, OK I know what that is and I'm done, I'm not going near that again."

Having gone through what she had gone through, Silverstone "stopped loving acting for a very long time." She, however, was able to restore her passion through a David Mamet play. "My body was just like, this is what I'm meant to do, I love it so much, I need to find a way to do both, to be able to be an actress and be an activist at the same time so that's what I did," she explained.

During the interview, Silverstone also got candid about having to deal with fame at such a young age following the success of "Clueless". The ex-wife of musician Christopher Jarecki said, "I was so overwhelmed by being famous because I was such a young girl and it was never really my intention." She added, "It was really just extreme how I was being talked to and talked about. I think I just got really turned off by it."
