The British pop rock band are forced to call off their scheduled performance at an Australian music festival because their lead vocalist is battling 'serious sickness.'

AceShowbiz - The 1975 were forced to scrap their planned gig in at St Jerome's Laneway Festival music festival in Brisbane, Australia just hours before they were scheduled to go on stage after singer Matty Healy was hospitalised.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, February 1, 2020, the band released a statement saying its lead vocalist had been recently "hospitalised" and was "too weak" to play.

"Matty was hospitalised following a bout of serious sickness," the statement read. "Unfortunately after a medical examination at 5:30 pm today the doctor advised that Matty was too weak to play."

The statement continued, "We are all devastated to miss tonight's show but to have put Matty's welfare first."

The "Sex" hitmakers said they planned to be on stage for their show in Sydney on Sunday, as they thanked fans for their understanding.
