The 'Ford v Ferrari' actor is forced to pull out of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association event after feeling under the weather following a vacation abroad.

AceShowbiz - Christian Bale is sitting out Sunday's January 5, 2020 Golden Globe Awards due to illness.

"The Dark Knight" star is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama category for his performance in the film "Ford v Ferrari", but Bale has bowed out of plans to attend the prizegiving at the Beverly Hilton as he is battling a bad bout of the flu.

Sources tell Variety the Brit, who is based in Los Angeles, was on vacation abroad when he fell ill, and was advised not to fly until he was feeling better.

Meanwhile, fellow nominee Russell Crowe will also be missing the first big awards show of 2020 - "The Loudest Voice" actor decided to stay home in Australia as wildfires continue to rage across the country.

Crowe's rural property near Coffs Harbour in New South Wales was among the areas engulfed by "catastrophic" flames back in November 2019, when two of his buildings were completely destroyed.
