The 'McMafia' star realizes that the 007 franchise is now 'antiquated' and 'needs to be updated,' but he denies reports that he's in talks to replace Daniel Craig for the next installment.

AceShowbiz - British actor James Norton has promised to "update" the JAMES BOND franchise if he's selected as the next 007.

Current Bond Daniel Craig is expected to stand aside after his next outing as the superspy, "No Time to Die", which is due out in April (20).

Suave Brit James has been hotly tipped as one of the favorites to take over and says that if he lands the role, he'll support the producers' attempts to modernize the "antiquated" franchise.

"We all know that with James Bond, large parts of it, and all the versions of it in the past, are now antiquated and it needs to be updated," the "McMafia" star tells Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper. "And I think that Barb(ara) Broccoli and the producers are very aware of that. Bringing in people like Phoebe Waller-Bridge can only help."

Speaking about his approach if picked, James adds, "If I was to take on a franchise, I would always want to complement it with something completely different."

However, the 34-year-old actor denied he's in discussions about taking the role, saying reports he's being considered are "based on nothing."
