When asked about the things that were slowly killing him, the 'Gold Roses' rapper admits he didn't take the medication he was prescribed seriously enough.

AceShowbiz - The seizures that threatened rapper Rick Ross' life a few years back were brought on by his love of partying and codeine.

The star suffered a series of health emergencies and admits the last one, in March, 2018, made him think long and hard about changing his unhealthy ways.

Since then, he has overhauled his diet, lost over 75 pounds (34 kilograms) and taken to getting a good night's sleep.

"It was the codeine," he told People when asked about the things that were slowly killing him. "That, mixed with the things I was drinking, the other drugs I was doing, and on top of not "

"(I don't think) one particular thing would have killed me. But everything combined...".

Ross also admits he didn't take the medication he was prescribed seriously enough: "I went I don't know how long without taking the medication to prove to myself I'm stronger than these other people this s**t was diagnosed for," he said. "I ended up back in the hospital in a worse condition."
