The TV spin-off is titled 'The Continental' and has director Chad Stahelski attached to helm the premiere episode, but Starz COO Jeffrey Hirsch stresses that it is 'still in early development.'

AceShowbiz - John Wick fans will have to wait for the TV spin-off as it's unlikely to debut before Keanu Reeves' fourth film as the smooth assassin.

Bosses at U.S. TV network Starz have confirmed the series won't air until at least late 2021, while the next "John Wick" movie is slated for release that May.

Starz COO Jeffrey Hirsch says, "My sense is that, where we are today, the movie date has been set but we're still in early development on the series so (it will debut) most likely after."

Starz executives picked up the show, titled "The Continental", at the beginning of last year (2018), and John Wick director Chad Stahelski has signed on to direct the premiere episode.

It's still possible Reeves will appear as Wick, as well as executive produce, but Hirsch refused to speculate on the leading man's involvement, telling a recent Television Critics Association panel, "No answer is as good a tease you're going to get. It's a great franchise, we're excited about bringing that show to the network."
