AceShowbiz - Singer Trey Songz is urging lawmakers to toss an alleged assault case against him, insisting he was defending himself when he struck the plaintiff.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the "Bottoms Up" star, real name Tremaine Neverson, claims he is not responsible for any harm suffered by Andrea Buera, who is suing him for assault following an incident at a Hollywood Hills party last year (2018).
The singer states he "reasonably believed Plaintiff (Buera) was going to harm him and any force he used was only the amount reasonable necessary to protect himself."
He also denies all allegations of wrongdoing, and argues if Buera suffered damages it was due to her wrongful conduct.
Songz was arrested following the alleged attack but both the Los Angeles City Attorney and the District Attorney declined to press charges, citing a lack of evidence.
Buera is suing Songz for assault and battery, claiming Songz became upset after he spotted her talking to another male party guest. She accused the singer of viciously beating her and alleges a bodyguard had to intervene to stop the attack.
She is seeking unspecified damages for alleged injuries and medical expenses.
