AceShowbiz - Organisers behind the embattled Woodstock 50 festival have suffered another big setback after they were denied a permit to stage the event at a New York race track.
Planning officials in the town of Vernon rejected the application to hold the big gig at Vernon Downs on Tuesday, July 09, declaring the permit paperwork was incomplete and had been submitted too late.
Woodstock anniversary concert bosses have vowed to appeal the ruling, but it appears concerns from locals about public safety and traffic in the area helped to sway the boardmembers' decision, after Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol admitted it was too short notice for authorities to arrange additional security measures.
Vernon Downs had been eyed as a possible venue for the three-day bash in mid-August, after executives at the original location, Watkins Glen International, backed out of the troubled event in June, when a major festival investor bailed.
Jay-Z, Dead & Company, and Imagine Dragons had previously been announced as headlining acts for the event, but it's not clear whether they will still perform if promoters manage to secure a site for the show.
