Steven Greenberg, a lawyer for the 'I Believe I Can Fly' hitmaker, claims that his client has paid ex-wife Andrea Kelly the $32,000 he owed in interest for missed child support bills from 2018.

AceShowbiz - R. Kelly has avoided further legal trouble in his child support battle by settling all of his debts with his ex-wife.

The embattled R&B veteran's lawyer, Steven Greenberg, reveals his client is now fully up-to-date on payments to Andrea Kelly (Drea Kelly), after handing over the $32,000 (£25,300) he owed in interest for missed child support bills racked up last year (18), which amounted to more than $160,000 (£126,500).

Those skipped payments landed him in jail for three days back in March, after the singer failed to meet the court-appointed deadline set by the judge overseeing the former couple's financial dispute.

However, Kelly has made an effort to stay on top of his custody bills of late, surprising his ex last month (May 2019) with a cheque to cover his debts for March, April, and May, and at another hearing days later, Andrea received another lump sum as an advance payment for June and July.

Greenberg tells TMZ the "I Believe I Can Fly" hitmaker "doesn't owe one more single solitary cent" to Andrea at present, and he is confident Kelly will continue to keep up with his monthly child support payments going forward.

Andrea, who shares three children with the musician, has yet to comment on the news, which emerges days after she filed court papers asking the judge to set a deadline for Kelly to settle the overdue interest - or face prosecution once more.

It's one less legal woe for Kelly to deal with - he is also facing 11 sex crime charges relating to an alleged 2010 incident with a minor, on top of the 10 separate counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four victims, three of whom were underage at the time of the alleged encounters, which were filed against him earlier this year.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty to all accusations.
