Also taking home top prizes are Antonio Banderas, who is hailed Best Actor for his role in Pedro Almodovar's 'Pain and Glory', and Emily Beecham, who nails Best Actress for 'Little Joe'.

AceShowbiz - Director Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" landed the coveted Palme d'Or at the closing ceremony of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, May 25.

The South Korean filmmaker, most famous for "Snowpiercer", claimed the top prize after 10 days of competition in France.

Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, was also a big winner, collecting the Best Actor honour for his role in Cannes regular Pedro Almodovar's "Pain & Glory", while "Little Joe"'s Emily Beecham claimed the Best Actress trophy.

The awards were handed out at the Grand Theatre Lumiere after a panel of judges, led by filmmaker Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, spent much of the day picking the winners from the festival's competition.

The talk of this year's festival was Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", which premiered earlier this week, 25 years to the day after his cult classic "Pulp Fiction" debuted at the festival in 1994.

Tarantino brought out the stars, including his leading men Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, for the screening earlier this week (beg May 20).
