AceShowbiz - Julie Chen is allegedly planning to return to "The Talk". The TV personality seemingly wants to fill the void that will be left by Sara Gilbert, who announced her departure from the morning talk show earlier this month.
"Julie Chen sees Sara Gilbert's departure as an opportunity for her to return to the talk show," sources told Rob Shuter of STRAIGHT SHUTER (via Radar Online). "Julie was one of the original cast members and hated leaving the show after her husband's sexual scandal."
The sources went on saying that Julie "thinks this is the moment that she could return." The sources also added, "She paid the price for her husband's crime and is now ready to take her place again at the table she helped create."
While her return is not entirely impossible, the insiders claimed that it needed to be greenlit by Sara. "Although Sara is leaving the show as a host, she will still be an executive producer and still very much the boss!" said the sources of the "The Conners" star.
Sara announced her exit from the CBS talk show after nine years. It was rumored that she was put in the position where she should choose one between the show or her longtime wife Linda Perry. "Sara's marriage was strained because of the nonstop fights with her wife," a source close to Sara said. "Linda told Sara that she didn’t have enough time for her family, and she was right!"
"This is hard to and something that I have been struggling with for a while and going back and forth, but I've decided that it's time for me to leave the show this year," Sara said in the April 9 episode of "The Talk". "I obviously love it here, and like I said, this was extremely difficult. Last season, I did 'The Conners' as you know, and was also producing and here, and I loved it and felt totally empowered, but also If I'm being honest about it, I think my life was slightly out of balance, and I wasn't able to spend as much time with my three kids as I'd like, or time for myself."
Sara's last day on the show will be August 2.
