AceShowbiz - Serena Williams may be one of the busiest women in the world, but she always has time for her best friend Meghan Markle. The tennis star was the one who prepared the Duchess of Sussex's baby shower back in February in New York, and she had revealed the details about her preparation for the bash.

Talking to Business of Fashion, the 37-year-old mother of one said, "Planning something like that takes a lot of effort." She continued saying, "I'm a perfectionist, so I'm like, 'Let's make it perfect.' "

Serena, who sat down for the interview just after the lavish bash, added, "It's been a lot the last few days." The birthday shower, which took place at the trendy Mark Hotel in the penthouse, occured amid awards season, and Willimas was set to introduce the Best Picture nominee at the Academy Awards.

Despite her busy schedule, Serena managed to hold the intimate shower successfully. The lavish event was attended by some A-listers such as Amal Clooney, Gayle King and Jessica Mulroney who all gathered at the hotel, which cost $75,000 a night, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

They were all treated to a flower-arranging class as a bunch of delicious foods were offered for them.

In addition to the shower, Serena and Meghan enjoyed some time together in a fancy dinner at Ralph Lauren's restaurant The Polo Bar. Joining them were Jessica and Markus Anderson.

Meghan and Serena have been friends after meeting for the first time at the Super Bowl in 2010. The athlete was also among the attendees at Meghan and Prince Harry's royal wedding back in May 2018.

Talking about Meghan, who is currently pregnant with her first child with the British prince, Serena said, "I'm like, 'How are you?' and she's like, 'No, how are you?' and I'm like, 'You're so sweet, but I'm really asking -- how are YOU?' I'm like, 'Meghan, stop being so nice…you're the pregnant one, aren't you supposed to have hormones, why are you so sweet?' But that's always been her."
