Continuing to offer support to Leslie Cockburn, the 'Life Itself' actress shares a picture of her weekend outing wherein she helped her mother knocking on doors to attract more votes.

AceShowbiz - Actress Olivia Wilde joined her mother on the campaign trail in Virginia on Sunday, October 14, to rally support for the journalist and filmmaker's run for U.S. Congress.

Leslie Cockburn is the 2018 Democratic nominee for the state's fifth district in the U.S. House of Representatives, and in the lead up to the November mid-term elections, Olivia decided to spend her weekend knocking on doors to help drum up votes.

"Canvassing is fun. Canvassing with your mom is also fun. Canvassing with your mom who is also the candidate is the FUNNEST. Go mama go!" the "Tron Legacy" star wrote on Instagram, alongside a snap of the mother and daughter duo out and about.

"Thank you to everyone volunteering out there in Virginia's 5th! This is a movement."

Olivia then shared her thoughts on her mum's Republican rival, Denver Riggleman, as she listed the reasons why fans should seriously consider backing Cockburn.

"Her opponent is against net neutrality, the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment), and believes hunters should be able to shoot hibernating bears and wolves with cubs," she continued. "He said preventing sexual assault begins with educating women... He does not represent the awesome people in this district!"

Canvassing is fun. Canvassing with your mom is also fun. Canvassing with your mom who is also the candidate is the FUNNEST. Go mama go! Thank you to everyone volunteering out there in Virginia’s 5th! This is a movement. Her opponent is against net neutrality, the ERA, and believes hunters should be able to shoot hibernating bears and wolves with cubs. He said preventing sexual assault begins with educating women. He’s owned by the Freedom Caucus, the Koch bros, and Paul Ryan’s PAC. He does not represent the awesome people in this district! My mom is refusing all PAC money, and has grown a grassroots movement led by thousands of incredible volunteers and small donors. Stay strong, my friends!!! @leslieforcongress #VA05 ❤️🌊❤️🌊❤️🌊

Olivia and her actor fiance, Jason Sudeikis, also lent Cockburn their support at a rally on Sunday night, when they urged any Virginia residents not already registered to vote to do so before Monday's deadline.

Speaking to local publication The Cavalier Daily, Olivia further underlined the need for her fellow Americans to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

"This is kind of a scary time to be alive, but it's also an opportunity to really make a difference," she said. "What's so exciting about elections is that this is our chance to shine as citizens."

Cockburn and Riggleman are fighting to take over the seat vacated by Representative Tom Garrett, who announced in May that he will not be seeking re-election when voters will go to the polls on 6 November.
