Aida Tekla, who wrote the questionable article for the airlines’ in-flight magazine, has defended her piece, insisting that the interview with the ‘Santa Clarita Diet’ star did take place in New York.

AceShowbiz - EgyptAir is standing by a writer for its in-flight magazine who penned a bizarre article on actress Drew Barrymore.

In the article published in EgyptAir's in-flight magazine, Horus, written by Aida Tekla, the "Santa Clarita Diet" star was described as "being unstable in her relationships" and as having had "several unsuccessful marriages".

In a bizarrely worded tweet, Aida, who is listed as a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, wrote: "This doesn't negate the fact that the interview with Drew Barrimoor (sic) which took place in New York is genuine &far from fake. As far as Drew we interviewed her several times I saw her grow up before my eyes she is charming and talented."

After which the airline thanked her for "the clarification".

Political analyst Adam Baron first shared pictures of the "surreal" article on social media following a flight to Cairo - with the tweet quickly going viral.

According to the article, "It is known that Barrymore has had almost 17 relationships, engagements and marriages" and that psychologists believe that her "behaviour is only natural since she lacked the male role model in her life after her parents' divorce when she was only nine years."

The piece, which was full of grammatical errors, was brought to the attention of representatives for the Never Been Kissed actress by HuffPost, and they told the publication the star "did not participate" in the interview and that her team is "working with the airline PR team".
