AceShowbiz - The release of Tom Cruise's highly-anticipated "Top Gun" sequel has been pushed back by a year until 2020.
Production on the military action-drama, directed by Joseph Kosinski, recently got underway in California, 32 years after the original film was released in 1986, but it appears fans will no longer get to see the movie next summer, as its July, 2019 launch has been rescheduled for June 2020.
Paramount Pictures bosses have not elaborated on the reason for the delay, but a source tells The Wrap that "extensive visual effects work and complicated flight scenes" are to blame for the postponement.
Cruise is reprising his classic character Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell for "Top Gun: Maverick", with Val Kilmer returning as rival pilot, Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky.
Miles Teller was recently cast as Bradley Bradshaw, the son of Anthony Edwards' original character Nick 'Goose' Bradshaw, while other new additions to the line-up include Jon Hamm and Ed Harris, as well as Glen Powell, who had initially been in the running for Teller's role.
