In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, HBO programming president Casey Bloys weighed in on episode length plan and final season trailer.

AceShowbiz - HBO programming president Casey Bloys gives an update on when season 9 of hit series "Game of Thrones" will premiere. Bloys announced at the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills, California, on Wednesday, July 25, that the final season of "Game of Thrones" will arrive in the first half of 2019.

"I'm not going to say what to expect (in the final season) though it's pretty great," Bloys told the reporters, adding that the premiere date would be "sometime in 2019...first half." First half premiere date actually is not surprising for fans, since the show has always debuted the previous seasons in either March, April or July.

In addition to talking about the premiere date of the final season of "Game of Thrones", Bloys gave more informations about the show's prequel pilot that is written by Jane Goldman and George R. R. Martin. "We're just starting the search for a director, casting director, and we hope to start shooting in the new year," he shared.

Previously, Martin revealed that among the remaining four prequels that's being developed, one had been "shelved," which means there are only 3 remaining prequel projects left. Bloys gave an update on that, saying that the remaining three were a "combination" of dead or on hold while HBO pours its focus on the Goldman project. "The reason we did multiple scripts, out of five, we knew we'd be lucky to get one that we're very, very excited about," he said.

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bloys weighed in on episode length plan and final season trailer. Bloys suggested that the eighth and final season wouldn't be a season of two-hour episodes. "Yes, they are not going to be. Not that I've seen, anyway," he said.

When asked when a final season trailer will be dropped, Bloys insisted that he was kept in the dark as much as others. He replied, "That's a good question that I don't know the answer to. I would guess [this year], but I don't know."

The production of "Game of Thrones" season 9 in Belfast had been wrapped up. Star Maisie Williams recently said goodbye to "Game of Thrones" after filming her last scene for the show. She shared on Instagram a photo of her white shoes which were covered with fake blood. The Arya Stark depicter also got herself a tattoo to commemorate her character on the cult series.
