The trailer reveals Billy Batson's encounter with The Wizard and also how he hilariously learns of his super powers and uses them.

AceShowbiz - The first official full trailer of "Shazam!" was debuted Saturday, July 21 at San Diego Comic-Con, mostly highlighting how 14-year-old Billy Batson (Asher Angel) obtains his super powers. The young Billy is told to have run away from foster homes in six counties, until he is sent to another foster home where he meets superhero enthusiast Freddy Freeman, played by Jack Dylan Grazer.

The trailer includes Batman and Superman Easter eggs and gives a shout out to "Game of Thrones" when Freddy jokingly warns his new buddy about how cutthroat people at the foster home could be. As the two boys get closer, one day Billy defends Freddy from bullies at school and gets into a subway to run away from the bad boys who chase him.

During that train ride, Billy encounters a mysterious Wizard (Djimon Hounsou) who grants him powers by just saying his name, Shazam. Billy suddenly turns into a muscly adult (Zachary Levi) and the first person he tells about his transformation is, of course, Freddy.

With the help of Freddy, Billy learns of his super powers, which include super-strength and bulletproof. He uses his super powers to stop robbery at a convenient store and later encounters a villainous character played by Mark Strong, Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

"It's 'Superman' meets 'Big'!" Levi described the movie in an interview with EW. He also gushed about his character, "It's complete wish-fulfillment - if you scour all of DC and Marvel there are very few characters that are actually stoked to be a superhero. They're not brooding, they're not put out, like 'Oh dammit, I gotta save the world again!' Billy Batson is like Peter Parker, they're thrilled to have these powers and can't wait to try them out."

Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen and Jovan Armand star as members of Billy's foster family, with Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans playing Billy's foster parents. Directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the DC superhero movie is scheduled to hit theaters across the nation on April 5, 2019.
